A podcast is an audio or video file that is delivered via an RSS feed. For more information on RSS feed refer to the blog post on RSS feed in this blog. For some years since its inception a podcast used to be an audio file. Later it also took the form of a video file. A video podcast is called a vodcast. A podcast is also called “an audio blog”. Most of the times, a podcast is a MP3 file, which can be downloaded to a PC or MP3 player via the internet. Once the files are downloaded, a podcast can be listened to any number of times
The term podcast originated from the words “iPod” and “broadcast”. Podcast is also considered a backronym; it stands for “Personal On Demand broadcast". Social bookmarking

Do you spend a lot of time on the web looking for information? Has it been difficult for you to organize your resources? Have you ever felt bad that you are unable to send an important link to your friend because you did not carry it in your pen drive? Don’t Worry, Social Bookmarking is here.
Social bookmarking is online storage of websites wherein the users can create, collect and share their bookmarks (website or URL) on a specific topic. Instead of saving them to your web browser, like Internet explorer or Mozilla firefox you can save them to the web. As your bookmarks are online, you can easily share them either with public or it can be shared only with specified people or groups.
The first thing you will need to do to get started with social bookmarking is to decide on a social bookmarking website. There are many choices like del.icio.us (now called Delicious), Simpy, Digg, Jumptags, Blinklist etc. The URLs of these sites are as follows:
· http://delicious.com/ (del.icio.us)
· http://www.simpy.com/ (Simpy)
· http://digg.com/ (Digg)
· http://www.jumptags.com/ (Jumptags)
· http://blinklist.com/ (Blinklist)
Once you have picked a social bookmarking site, you will have to install a button onto your browser to make it easy to use. The site should provide a tutorial on installing the button either after you sign up or in their help section.
As Instructional Designer we can use social bookmarking to organize, share our web resources and also to find what others are bookmarking on the topic of Instructional Design. This will enable us to broaden our horizon in the field of Instructional Design.
So, start exploring and using social bookmarking and we are sure it will be very helpful to you!!!
